Weekend of Anticipation

Well, it has been an interesting weekend for us. After our Dr. appointment on Thursday in which we were told that she (our doctor) would be surprised if we made it through the weekend without going into labor, we spent this past weekend in anticipation, wonder, confusion, curiosity, anxiety, excitement and eventually we relaxed a bit. We had to remind ourselves that our little girl is going to come when she wants to, not when other people might think she will, regardless of expertise.

Then again, it is still Sunday....

Regardless, we enjoyed the weekend and smiling in those little moments where we realised yet again, that we are so very close to becoming parents and starting the long journey of being a family and raising our little girl.

I'm sure we'll be sharing the exciting news any day now, but it may not happen before this weekend is through. :)

Our Anniversary

Our anniversary was on Monday, July 21st. Ian was off from work on Friday and Monday, so we actually had a 4-day anniversary weekend together. Because I am 38 weeks pregnant, we did not go away. We wanted to stay local and not be too far away from home/hospital. Also, it was an incredibly hot and humid weekend (the opposite of our wedding weather), so we spent a lot of time indoors enjoying the A/C. It was a fun and relaxing weekend.

To celebrate our anniversary we went to dinner at the Hyatt on Saturday. We had a great surf and turf meal and afterwards, enjoyed a walk along the waterfront.

We enjoyed watching the sunset and some beautiful thunderclouds.

On Monday, we made homemade pizza and watched our wedding DVD. It is my favorite movie! We spent a lot of time reminiscing about our wedding day and also about our wonderful honeymoon to Hawaii.

On Monday evening, we finally unwrapped our wedding cake, which has been occupying 1/4 of our freezer for the last year. Ian had wrapped it so well last July. It had no freezer burn and it was quite tasty. :)

We both can't believe that we have only been married for a year. What a wonderful and exciting year it has been! :)

Baby Shower

I knew the date of the shower, but the location was a surprise! Ian and a group of my friends planned and threw the shower, and it was so much fun! It was held at Sparks Crafts Studio in Cambridge. In addition to most of my friends being there, my mom, grandmother, and niece were able to come too! And Ian's sister and nieces were up for a visit, so it was wonderful to see them and for them to share in this special event. :)

Everyone made scrapbook pages for us to add photos of special events in Abigail's first year (e.g., first bath, first Christmas, first tooth, etc...).

My friend Jenn B. gave us a beautiful scrapbook to place all the pages made by our friends and family.

Ian made a delicious punch and Abigail particularly liked it! She was wiggling around about an hour and a half after I drank my first glass. :)

She also liked the cake!
By the middle of the shower, my feet were so swollen, I had to take my shoes off...leaving me barefoot and pregnant! :)

In addition to scrapbooking, my friend Shelby, had everyone participate in a project to build a "wish necklace" for me to wear to the hospital. Everyone selected a bead to place on the necklace and offered their wish for me. It was so touching to hear everyone's special wish and to know how excited everyone is for Ian and I.

We all had a great day!

1 - Month and Counting

It's obvious to us, from all the moving around and attempts to rearrange her current accommodations, that our little girl is starting to feel a little confined inside her mommy. Our bags are packed and we have no doubt that the next few weeks will pass far too fast and before we know it, we'll have a baby girl to bring home with us.

We promise to keep up the blog better than we have been once our little girl is born. We'll try to capture as many moments as we can to share because we know how fast they come and go.

More soon, we promise...
